Give the peaks a morning
Mullayanagiri and Kemmanagundi reward an early start. Cloud builds through the day. If you only walk one ridge, walk it before the buses stack on the hairpins.

Bean to cup
Two acts on one walk: the saint who brought seven Mocha seeds, then shade, cherry, roast, filter coffee. Not a shop. Not a booking. Lore is labelled lore.
How coffee reached these hillsA Sufi hermitage, a Yemeni port, and a district that still grows arabica in shade. The dates disagree. The slope does not.

Daylight
No municipal opening hours are published. The district notes a narrow hill road and a final walk to the summit temple. After dark the hairpins are unlit and often in cloud.
Why people come
Karnataka’s high point at 1,930 m, about 20 km from town on the Baba Budan / Chandra Drona range. The Department of Tourism brochure notes Mullappa Swamy Temple at the summit, scenic mountain roads, and sunrise/sunset views. The last stretch is typically walked.

Before you leave town
A short, unofficial briefing you can read over coffee before you leave town. Nothing here replaces an official notice.
Mullayanagiri and Kemmanagundi reward an early start. Cloud builds through the day. If you only walk one ridge, walk it before the buses stack on the hairpins.
Hebbe, Jhari and Sirimane are different corners of the district. A single day that ‘does them all’ is how people drive tired into a ghats dusk.
Sringeri and Horanadu are living mathas and temples. Plan them as pilgrimages with dress codes, not as selfie stops bolted onto a trek.
