The story
Jackfruit is native to the Indian Western Ghats and fruits hard in Malnad. Unripe bulbs are sliced and fried into chips, a tin in the pantry when the trees are heavy. Kitchens here also steam and curry the fruit; the chips are what travel. This is orchard food, not a packaged souvenir story.
